DHC Disposable Ruler

The Dental Health Component (DHC) of the Index of Orthodontic Treatment Need (IOTN) summarises the various dental issues created by malocclusion.

The IOTN is comprised of 5 grades, Grades 1 and 2 requiring no orthodontic treatment, Grade 3 requiring no treatment to correct dental health and Grades 4 and 5 indicating more severe malocclusion requiring the provision of orthodontic treatment.

The DHC ruler is designed to accurately measure and record malocclusion complexity which may impact upon the health of the dentition and surrounding soft tissue structures. It is designed for use in a clinical setting to identify factors contributing to occlusal anomalies including missing teeth, overjets, crossbites, displacement of contact points and overbites.
